Hammons is a Southern California poet whose work has appeared in American Mustard III, Cadence Collective, and The Pacific Review. He was featured in the photo and poetry blog, Portraits of Poetry (March 2018). George studied creative writing, with a focus on poetry, at California State University, San Bernardino. He is the author of the chapbook, “Hungry To Bed” from Arroyo Seco Press.
His recent collection Witness “…meditates on the body-its connections to others both human and of the natural world-and our own and others’ perceptions of the body, most specifically the black body. Indiscernibles in Arizona, Anthology
An anthology of essays exploring the Black experience in Arizona. As an attempt at a historical corrective, the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing is partnering with the Heritage Square Foundation and Emancipation Arts LLC to put out a Call For Essays from Black Arizonans to share their stories and expand the flawed historical narrative.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, February 1, 2021.
